Most wanted New Year Present!

This is my most wanted item for 2009:-
(would it make me more hopelessly addicted to all things Austen?)

2009 Jane Austen Wall Calendar
http://www.jasna.org/merchandise/calendar.html

from AustenBlog: "We received a copy of the Wisconsin Region's 2009 Jane Austen calendar and can attest to it as a lovely and useful item for the Jane Austen fan. The calendar features color illustrations by the Brock brothers, and nearly every day has an entry from Jane Austen's life or novels. The calendar is $15 plus shipping (see the order page for S&H costs) and they will ship to the UK. "

Hmm...a little bit expensive for me though....

This one has beautiful pictures (http://www.austenquotes.com/jane_austen_press/), but I don't really need it as I've actually been to some of the places!(not that I want to show off....)

Pride and Prejudice MUSICAL

Just find this out at Austen Blog. A Broadway musical to be premiered in Oct. 2008!

http://www.prideandprejudicebroadway.com/

And you can have a taste of some of the songs at this web-site.

Forgive me, but I think the songs are so typically "fairy-tale"-like, It didn't remind me of Lizzy and Mr Darcy, but a Disney animation, Maybe I just can't picture Mr. Darcy singing and dancing...oh~~

In fact, there is an older version of a P&P Broadway musical in 1959 called "First Impressions", but I had never heard of it.

And here is another musical adaptation of P&P: (NOT the Broadway version listed above)
http://www.prideandprejudicemusical.com/ (I find the songs nicer than the Broadway one^ ^)

Jane Austen實在?害,不止跨年代,跨文化,甚至跨媒體。
我認真的在考慮要不要把這片CD的消息告訴AustenBlog的外國Jane迷們...

Exactly 232 years ago....

On this day, a girl was born in a small town in the south of England. This girl named Jane would not have thought that she was to become one of the greatest writers of the English language, although only four novels got published during her lifetime, and two more after her death. She as a writer was not held in high regard by her contemporaries. But great works are timeless. Two centuries have passed and her novels are as popular as ever.

She would have been very glad to see this.

Happy Birthday!
